Following are some aspects of good mobile web page design:
Keep content focused. Mobile device users are typically browsing for specific information such as news headlines, weather, information about store/restaurant location, and so forth. They are typically not interested in reading large amounts of text.
Keep content light. Bandwidth and cost should be taken into consideration when deciding on content such as images. Thumbnail images do not overwhelm the page or use excessive resources.
Design the content for multiple screen sizes and layouts, such as portrait and landscape. Content such as banners, logos, and backgrounds should 'stretch' so that they expand or contract.
Place the most important information on the top-left part of the page so that it is visible immediately upon loading.
Avoid excessive white space, forcing the reader to scroll a long way to reach information.
Keep advertisements small and not intrusive. Some material do not work well on small devices, such as pop-ups, pop-unders, and large banners.
Consider hardware limitations such as text input using non-qwerty keypads.
