Flash Lite applications are animations or more complex applications created with Adobe Flash and published for Flash Lite. Non-interactive Flash Lite applications are often referred to as Flash Lite movies.

Apart from the environment they run in and its restrictions, Flash Lite applications are only marginally different from traditional Flash applications. They use the same ActionScript programming language, are distributed in the same SWF file format, and have the same timeline features and functionality as the desktop Flash Player:
MovieClips and Buttons
Bitmap and vector graphics
Scripting
Audio and video capabilities
User interaction
Flash Lite applications can be divided into the following three types:
Device support for these types depends on the device platform and the capabilities of the Flash Lite Player installed on a device. To find out which devices support which types, see the list of Flash-enabled devices at the Flash Devices Web site or Device Specifications at Forum Nokia.
A SWF file deployed to a mobile device is considered a standalone Flash Lite application. Standalone Flash Lite applications are the most common category of Flash Lite applications, and most of the information contained in this library relates to them.
On S60 devices, standalone Flash Lite applications run in the preinstalled Flash Lite Player. On S60 3rd Edition and S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 1 devices, the player can be launched from the Applications menu. On S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2 and newer devices, the player is a hidden application that allows users to access Flash Lite content directly from the Media Gallery or File Manager. The player can also be launched from other applications that need to play Flash Lite content.
On Series 40 devices, SWF files can be saved anywhere in the accessible file system of the device and then run from there.

Flash Lite content can also be included in HTML and XHTML Web pages.
When a SWF file is correctly defined in the <embed> and <object> elements
of a Web page, the file is downloaded and played automatically by the device.
Browser-embedded Flash Lite content can also be used in conjunction with mobile
device widgets.
Browser-embedded content is supported on S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 1 and newer S60 devices. Series 40 devices do not support browser-embedded content.
For more information about browser-embedded Flash Lite content, see section Flash Lite in the Web Browser for S60.
A SWF file that requires no user interaction can be used as a screen saver on a device. A screen saver is activated after the device has been inactive for a set period and is displayed until the device backlight is turned off.
Not all devices with Flash Lite support screen savers, so make sure that your target device can run them. Generally, the screen saver feature is available on all S60 devices that support Flash Lite 2.0 or newer and on all Series 40 devices.
Wallpapers are a subset of screen savers. Wallpapers are displayed as a background image in the device display. Any device that supports screen savers also supports wallpapers.
